How good are sunsets?
I love sunrises for their beginning & possibility, but the majesty of a sunset offers reflection, completion & opportunity.
The awareness of the passage of time marked by these beginnings & endings, and how intentionally we live in between, can help us live more in ease & flow.
Not every day offers something of ‘significance’ to celebrate, and some days can be really shitty, however the ability to note the punctuation points, those seemingly insignificant moments that have filled our days, keep us grounded in the sheer joy of being alive & are the very things that give our days meaning.
What are those punctuation points?
Anything that has delighted our senses - sights, music, food, conversations, connections.
Being in tune with the cycles and rhythms of everyday hones our attention, amplifies our awareness. Being in a space of awe & wonder for & in the world around us helps us see that simple things are often the most important things.
We start, we gather momentum, we set things aside & rest.
And we have the time in between … and then we get to do it all again.
We all have the same amount of allocated time, no matter who we are, what we do, how much we earn.
Time is time.
What we notice, what attitude we bring to that 24 hour time frame we all have, will determine how we live in the world.
Yep I love a sunset, and I love a sunrise. Please don’t ask me to choose which one I love the best. Each offer us the opportunity to bookend our life with a sense of reverence & a tuning into of the beauty of just being alive.
At the end of today ask yourself:
☀️ What went well
And, particularly if you have had a tough day ( I am really sorry if you did), maybe take a moment to say to yourself:
☀️ That day is done
Take time to exhale the day that was, rest & gather yourself to begin anew.
Wherever you are I do hope your day was a goody, even in the bite sized moments.
With Love
Mon
I took the picture above at The Heart of Gold Vineyard in Mandurang outside of Bendigo, Victoria. Only a couple of hours drive from Melbourne, the beautifully converted Stables are a comfortable base to explore the area. The Pitneys are fabulous hosts … & they make some delicious wine. The Eliza Rose was particularly so.
