EFFERVESCENCE…You can just feel it in your body as you say it can’t you?
The tingling sensation in every cell that expresses itself through broad smiles, belly laughs, sparkling eyes, movement, zest for life.
We could work out a way to bottle it, or we could just go about living it … seeking the experiences that make us feel alive.
In my coaching sessions when I ask people what they want, more often than not, the answer is to be ‘happy’. But what does that ACTUALLY look like. Or FEEL like?
We seem to think we need to strive for it - it could be just out of our grasp - we tell ourselves once X happens, then we will be ‘happy’.
Or it is fleeting. Well it sort of is. Because as we walk through our days … life happens, & it is not always great, so if we don’t pay attention, we miss the little things that are delightful.
And if we hold on too tight, ‘happiness’ crumbles with too much expectation.
Happiness is a by-product of something, so I like the idea of connecting all the little ‘somethings’ that keep us buoyant and vital as more of a goal to aim for in our day.
Maybe today, make a mental note, or better still an actual list of all the things in your day that make you come alive, that make you feel bubbly, expansive, lighthearted, purposeful or engaged.
Because we can’t bottle this stuff. We just have to lean into the feelings that come with presence.
What makes you experience joy? What makes you feel like you want to skip like a 3 year old going into an ice cream store?
Give me effervescence any day. The nuggets of happiness we seek are tucked inside there somewhere.
Thanks for being here
